What is iXe?
iXe is a game that takes you to a digital world where you can create your own digital avatar and scenes. The digital world is called The Grid and it’s a place where anything is possible. You can meet characters from cartoons, movies, and series in different game genres. You can visit servers that run different types of games: action, adventure, horror, comedy, romance, etc. You can interact with these characters in amazing ways: fight with them, befriend them, romance them, betray them, etc. You can also create your own scenes and scenarios in The Grid: you can design your own server, your own game world, your own rules. You can make your scenes as simple or as complex as you want. You can make them realistic or fantastical. You can make them serious or silly. The only limit is your imagination.
But how do you resolve these scenes and actions in the game? Well, that’s where the poker cards come in. Poker cards are used for everything in the game: combat scene; montage scene; recovery scene; etc. It’s a simple and elegant system that gives you a lot of narrative freedom and creativity. You don’t need dice or charts or tables to play this game.
All you need is a deck of poker cards and some paper and pencil (or an app). The poker cards are used to determine the outcome of your actions: success or failure; advantage or disadvantage; complication or opportunity; etc. The poker cards also help you generate random elements for your scenes: characters; locations; events; twists; etc.
The poker cards also add some tension and suspense to the game: will you draw a high card or a low card? Will you draw a heart or a spade? Will you draw an ace or a joker? The poker cards make the game unpredictable and exciting.
What do you need to play?
- Standard Poker Deck
- Tokens (in the form of Coins, Paperclip, etc)
- Journal (Digital App or Physical Notebook)
- Pen or Pencil (at least 2 different Colours)
- Printed Avatar & Protocol Sheet
- Printed Traits Sheet (or cards)
- (Optional) Printed Reference Sheet
- (Optional) Cozy, Chill, or Relaxing Music
