Intro

Hey there! Welcome to this week’s roundup of the YouTube, where we covered a community revival and a deceptively cutesy roguelike indie.

Hail to the King, baby – Duke is back! 2022 was the year of many things Duke Nukem related coming to light, and among them was Duke Nukem Forever’s 2001 edition. A team has taken it upon themselves to fix and restore content found in this piece of gaming history, and their first slice was released right at the end of 2022. There’s more to come, but it feels good to once again bet on Duke.

Beware deceptive cuteness – in Cult of the Lamb, you play as a woodland creature with a dark side, manipulating citizens into your cult and using their sacrifices to fuel your power between runs of a roguelike mode. Don’t get too greedy – or else your followers will find someone else to worship.

FTL’s varied gameplay fed an addicting roguelike loop that had players coming back again and again. Roguelikes benefit a lot even from the smallest mods, but Multiverse for FTL believes in going hard or going home. Dozens of ships, hundreds of new events, many new weapons, and even alternate endings hide a great mystery behind a challenging, engaging, immersive universe.
